at Hub Feenix
Assuming you have applied, here are all the information you need to know about volunteering at the Hub.
Each volunteer is expected to work 5 hours per day, 5 days a week, when possible in flexible work-hours. We do our best to match the work with the workers' preferences.
On top of this, everyone participates in keeping the accommodation area clean. We have cleaning shifts every Wednesday.
In winter, some snow work is needed.
Some of the common work types include:
painting, cleaning, cooking, renovating, decorating, gardening, weeding, computer work and more.
Also metal work, woodwork, electronics, marketing, event management, all need to be done at times.
If you have special skills, tell us.
We try our best to match skills and desires to task. But part of why it's called work is that this is not always possible.
Hub Feenix is a lot about creativity and learning. For both there are plenty of opportunities, but in measures. Learning takes time, both from the learner and the teacher. So it is not always possible to do or learn new things, sometimes we just have to get things done.
Especially for people staying longer, or people making an extra effort, we are more ready to make the investment into teaching.
We try to be as flexible in the hours and tasks as we can be. While, of course, getting the work done.
This means you can work for extra days off, or take a run in the middle of the day.
The typical work week is Monday to Friday, with starting time at around 10 A.M.
We do appreciate and prefer when people work together, and agree on a schedule to collaborate.
Since we all live together, and create the safe and good-feeling space together, everyone is required to follow the basic rules of the house.
Please read them, as you will be asked to respect them:
Volunteers live in their own dedicated corridor, with shared kitchen, living room, showers & toilets.
Food is provided, as well as all the cooking tools needed.
Rooms are shared between 2 to 3 people.
There are a laundry room, a sauna, a gym, and other facilities available.
There are a lot of things to do around Hub Feenix: walking in the forest, swimming in or ice-skating on the lake (depending on the season), horse riding, etc.
In the region, you have charming villages and towns to visit, flea markets for shopping, museums, etc. You can also ski or do snowboarding!
And from here, it's easy to go to big cities like Helsinki and Turku.
There's no way you will get bored!
It's important to consider the weather when deciding whether joining us or not. There are two main seasons here...
🌞 Summer 😎
Beautiful and pleasant, not too hot.
☃️ Winter ❄️
Visually magnificent but it gets really cold and dark.
We communicate via the safe Signal App, prior to your arrival, and during your stay, so it's necessary for you to download it
